Sequoia Ski Club General Meeting

A General Membership Meeting of the Sequoia Ski Club was called to order on Thursday, November 20, 2008 at 7:15 p.m. by President Debbie Stewart at the Round Table Pizza. A quorum was established – 14 members. Debbie handed out the Skier’s Guide booklet. Woody will take some of the booklets to Sport Chalet and Big 5. FWSA Membership cards were handed out to the members present.
The minutes for the October 16 meeting were approved as posted on the members’ email. Treasurer Nancy Hamar reported on the club’s finances – Checking $1,322.89 and CD $17,602.77. The Board of Directors recommended that the CD be renewed in December at the Capital Source Bank (formerly Fremont Savings and Loan) for eleven months.
Membership Chairman, Nancy Fellows was not present to give a report on membership. An updated list is needed by the Board of Directors as soon as possible. The results from the Membership Drive at Sport Chalet are unknown due to Nancy absence from the meeting.
Historian Webmaster, George Stewart, reminded everyone to go to the web site for the Hot Sheet. Among other items, there are good tips for exercises to get our bodies ready for the slopes.
Debbie Stewart, Travel Director, reported on upcoming events: FWSA Ski Week is in Big Sky Montana January 24-31, 2009. Members who are going may choose to take a shuttle from Joe and Rosalie’s home to the Fresno airport. Rosalie is in charge of arranging the shuttle. Spots are available for the FWSA European ski trip to Austria. The Sierra Council Winter Party will be at Northstar January 10. Keystone Championships will be in December. FWRA Championships will be in April at Northstar. FWSA Ski tip to Argentina and Chile will be in August. FWSA Baltic Cruise will be September 13-23.
Delora Buckman, Newsletter editor, announced she will have another edition of Sno Go in mid December. She is looking for contributors for articles.
Social Director, Janice Brown, announced the Christmas Social will be at her home on December 11 at 6:30 p.m. Members are to bring appetizers to share. This will be a BYOB event.
The guest speaker for tonight was Sherry Babaglian. Sherry led us in several pre skiing warm up stretch exercises and then went on to demonstrate after skiing stretch exercises. She also handed out a booklet so we could practice at home. Members really appreciated this presentation.
The winner of the “opportunity drawing” was Delora Buckman.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:10 p.m.
